Student Teaching

I am in my Spring Semester of my Junior Year and 2nd Semester of Student Teaching!

You learn so much more by being in the classroom than you do in a college class!

My first semester, I had the GREATEST mentor teacher! Mrs. Stauffer was the best and I miss her and her class so much! Needless to say, I was apprehensive about switching schools and getting a new mentor teacher. I had to switch schools because the gas to and from was terrible and I spent every day driving 2 hours just for the elementary school.

My first mentor teacher this semester (in 2nd grade) was sweet! She was very helpful and gave me a lot of ideas! Friday was my last day with her was Friday and it was Bittersweet! I loved the kiddos and was liking how I could teach them and they respected me! However, I was ready to move on and get more experience! THE MORE THE BETTER! She gave me a few teaching supplies(1st picture) and the kids wrote me sweet letters! I even got some kids numbers ;)! They wanted me to call so I could come over and play! :)

I switched to a First Grade, Inclusion class! I'm in LOVE so far! The kids are so cute and sweet! I love the set up of her classroom and how organized she is! I also love her Sports themed classroom because that is how I want to do my future classroom! (I will try to snap a few pics sometime!

Today, I had the sweetest thing happen! NGCSU puts a Senior in the Education Program with a Junior! They usually put you with people that are at your school just so you can have a mentor that you can talk to,vent, ask questions, etc. Well since I moved schools, I don't really have a mentor:( Well a Senior that was at Lyman Hall also transferred and is in the room RIGHT beside me! Today she left the. blue bag of goodies on my desk and it just was so uplifting and encouraging! Rebekah was so sweet to kind of "adopt" me as her mentee:)

I'm so excited about my new placement and can't wait to see what all I learn!

I am doing my Junior Year Internship and this week has just been ROUGH!
My kids have been acting CRAZY and I wish I could post a picture of this one boy because I finally captured the face that he always makes and it just sums up the boy in one picture!

With the craziness of school, I get overwhelmed...EASILY! However, my parents always know just the way to make feel better! On Valentine's Day, I had to meet up with them and they surprised me with Flowers in a Mason Jar and a SWEET card! That made my week! To say that I'm a daddy's girl is an understatement! I have the picture of me and him hugging(See Below)as the background on my phone because it just reminds me that I have a wonderful father who loves me a lot!

Today, I finally got to come home after two weeks of not being able to an d I couldn't wait for this day to be over! While at recess with my kiddos, I received a text message from my dad with a picture of a lemon pie. Made the day go by so much faster and I couldn't wait to get home!

Now onto a 4 day weekend(ish)! I still have my college classes on Monday and Tuesday but NO Elementary school till Wednesday:)!!!!

Hope y'all have a great weekend!

P.S. My pictures aren't with the corresponding words because I am doing this post off my Blogger App and it doesn't let you do a whole lot of formatting:)

Don't call it a Comeback!

So last year, I started blogging but never really got into it.
However, I read blogs occasionally on a DAILY basis.
I've posted every once in a while but I am not the greatest with technology and didn't like how my blog looked in comparison to all the ones I read.
I had some free time (never happens) and decided I would try and figure out why mine blog looked so much different. Well I have done some playing and I have fixed some problems but still have a lot more to fix.  I plan to try to get my blog onto everyone else's level and plan to have a lot more postings!

So here is my "comeback" if you will and my attempt to entertain readers as much as I am entertained!

Why I love NGCSU

NGCSU is a one-of-a-kind school! College Life in Dahlonega is so much different than that of one in Athens or Atlanta. It's different.
1) I can't walk to class without seeing someone I know(I love that!)
2) It's a dry county! Nearest liqueur store is 25 minutes away!
3) We have 2 "bars" (Restaurants that cater to us college students that love a good time every once in awhile!)
4) It's absolutely FREEZING one day and the next is HOT!
5) Greek life is simple here!
6) There's no where like it!

An NGCSU student made a NGCSU Meme Facebook page and it's hilarious! It highlights life in Dahlonega that only NGCSU students would understand! Here is one image from it that just cracks me up! Today's weather was 23 in the morning and is going to be in 60s on Wednesday/Thursday!
DRASTIC change!

Okay, So I do not blog that often, but I actually have time to and want to share something with anyone who decides to  read this!

I have seen Facebook statuses, Tweets, etc. about people getting their PASSION2012 tickets. Well I have never really heard about it so I didn't know what the big deal was. Although I never blog, I read blogs on a DAILY basis! Especially Sharon's blog! She is my Big Big (Savannah's) mom and I just absolutely adore reading her blog everyday! Well she mentioned that Amelia went (Amelia now attends NGCSU) and posted a Livestream Link to Passion 2012! Well I was bored and didn't have anything to watch on T.V. and so I decided to tune in and see what everyone was talking about.

I first tuned into the Livestream and Chris Tomlin was singing "How Great is Our God" along with people from other countries! My mind was blown away. I continued to watch and have been going back and watching the previous sessions and can I just say... I am jealous that I am not at the Dome right now! Needless to say, I WILL be there next year! I say all this to say, you should go and watch too! Just click to watch PASSION 2012 and see for yourself the work of God!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years!

Student Teacher

Well I have been in a 2nd Grade class with 100% of my students being Hispanic! It's definitely a culture shock but has been a very rewarding experience! This coming Friday is my last day! It's bittersweet because I love my kids and mentor teacher but the gas everyday is awful! I feel up AT LEAST once a week! I am getting moved to a different school in Spring which is 5 minutes from my apartment, which is nice! Here is a picture of me and my mentor teacher! My mom made us shirts to match my lesson I taught with Scarecrows:)
